Now after Jesus was born in 

Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king,

イエスがヘロデ王の時代

にユダヤのベツレヘムでお生まれになったとき。

當耶穌生在猶太的伯利恆，正當希律王的時候。

behold,

見よ。

看哪！

wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,

東方から博士たちがエルサレムに来て。

有幾個博士從東方來到耶路撒冷。

saying,

こう言った。

說：

"Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?

「ユダヤ人の王としてお生まれになった方はどこにおられますか。

「那生下來作猶太人之王的在哪裡？

For we saw his star when it rose

私たちは東方でその方の星を見たので。

我們在東方看見他的星。

and have come to worship him."

拝みに来ました。」

特來拜他。」

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled,

ヘロデ王はこれを聞いて不安を覚え。

希律王聽見了，就心裡不安。

and all Jerusalem with him.

エルサレムの住民も皆。

耶路撒冷合城的人。

And calling together

そこで。

他就召齊了。

all the chief priests and scribes of the people,

王は祭司長たちと民の律法学者たちを皆集めて。

he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

キリストはどこに生まれることになっているのかと問いただした。

問他們，基督當生在何處？

They told him,

彼らは王に言った。

他們回答說：

"In Bethlehem of Judea,

「ユダヤのベツレヘムです。

「在猶太的伯利恆。

for so it is written by the prophet:

預言者によって次のように記されていますから。

因為有先知記著說：

'And you, O Bethlehem,

『ユダの地。

『猶大地的伯利恆啊，

in the land of Judah,

ベツレヘムよ。

在猶大諸城中。

are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;

お前はユダの支配者たちの中で。

你並不是最小的。

by no means least.

決して最も小さいものではない。

絕不是最小的。

for from you shall come a ruler

お前から支配者が出て。

因為將來有一位君王要從你那裡出來。

who will shepherd my people Israel.'"

わたしの民イスラエルを牧するようになるからである。』」

牧養我以色列民。』」

Then Herod,

そこで。

當下，希律。

in secret summoned the wise men

ヘロデはひそかに博士たちを呼び寄せ。

暗暗地召了博士來。

and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared.

星が現れた正確な時刻を確かめた。

And he sent them to Bethlehem,

After listening to the king, they went on their way.

And behold,

看哪！

the star that they had seen in the east went before them,

東方で見た星が彼らの先を進み。

until it came to rest over the place where the child was.

ついに幼子のいる所まで進んで行って。

直行，直到小孩子的地方。

and it stood over the place.

その上にとどまった。

就在上頭停住了。

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

彼らはその星を見て。

他們看見那星，就大大地歡喜。

And going into the house,

家にに入り。

they saw the child with Mary his mother,

幼子とその母マリヤを見て。

看見小孩子和他母親馬利亞。

and they fell down and worshiped him.

ひれ伏して幼子を拝んだ。

就俯伏拜那小孩子。

Then, opening their treasures,

そして宝の箱を開け。

揭開寶盒。

they offered him gifts: gold,

黄金。

拿黃金。

frankincense,

乳香。

乳香。

and myrrh.

没薬を贈り物として献げた。

沒藥為禮物獻給他。

And being warned

そして。

博士們因為在夢中。

in a dream not to return to Herod,

夢の中でヘロデのところへ戻るなとのお告げがあったので。

被神指示不要回去見希律。

they departed to their own country by another way.

彼らは別の道を通って自分の国へ帰った。

就從別條路回本地去了。

Now when they had departed,

彼らが帰って行った後。

他們走了之後。

behold,

見よ。

看哪！

an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying,

主の使いが夢にヨセフに現れて言った。

有主的使者在夢中向約瑟顯現。

"Rise,

「起きて。

說：「起來！

take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt,

幼子とその母を連れてエジプトへ逃げなさい。

帶著小孩子和他母親逃往埃及。

and remain there

そして。

在那裡住下。

until I tell you,

わたしがあなたに知らせるまで。

等我吩咐你。

and remain there.

そこに留まっていなさい。

留在那裡。

for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him."

ヘロデが幼子を捜し出して殺そうとしているからです。」

因為希律要尋找小孩子，要除滅他。」

And he rose

そこで。

約瑟就起來。

and he rose.

ヨセフは起き上がり。

起來。

and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt,

夜のうちに幼子とその母を連れてエジプトへ向かい。

夜間帶著小孩子和他母親往埃及去。

and remained there until the death of Herod.

ヘロデが死ぬまでそこに留まった。

住在那裡，直到希律死了。

This was to fulfill

それは。

這是要應驗。

what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

主が預言者を通して。

主藉先知所說的話。

"Out of Egypt I called my son."

「わたしはエジプトからわたしの子を呼び出した」

と言われたことが成就するためであった。

說：「我從埃及召出我的兒子來。」

Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men,

ヘロデは博士たちに欺かれたと知って。

希律見自己被博士們戲弄。

became furious,

激しく怒り。

就大大地發怒。

and he sent and killed

人をやって。

差人將。

all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region,

ベツレヘムとその周辺一帯にいる。

伯利恆城裡並四境所有的。

who were two years old or under, 

according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.

博士たちから詳しく聞き出した時期に基づいて。

照著他向博士們仔細查問的時候。

two years old or under.

二歳以下の男の子をすべて殺させた。

兩歲以裡的男孩都殺盡了。

Then was fulfilled

こうして。

這就應驗了。

what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah:

預言者エレミヤを通して言われたことが成就した。

先知耶利米所說的話。

"A voice was heard in Ramah,

「ラマで声が聞こえた。

「在拉瑪聽見聲音了。

weeping and loud lamentation,

泣き声と嘆きと大いなる悲鳴。

是哭泣和極大的哀號。

Rachel weeping for her children;

ラケルは自分の子供たちのために泣き。

拉結為她的兒女哭泣。

she refused to be comforted,

慰められることを拒んだ。

不肯受安慰。

because

なぜなら。

因為。

they are no more."

彼らはもういないからである。」

他們都不在了。」

But when Herod died,

ヘロデが死ぬと。

希律死了以後。

behold,

見よ。

看哪！

an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

主の使いがエジプトで夢にヨセフに現れて。

主的使者在埃及夢中向約瑟顯現。

saying,

言った。

說：

"Rise,

「起きなさい。

「起來！

take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel,

幼子とその母を連れてイスラエルの地へ行きなさい。

帶著小孩子和他母親往以色列地去。

for those who sought the child's life are dead."

幼子の命をねらっていた者たちは死にました。」

因為那尋找小孩子性命的人已經死了。」

And he rose

そこで。

約瑟就起來。

and he rose.

ヨセフは起き上がり。

起來。

and took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

幼子とその母を連れてイスラエルの地に入った。

帶著小孩子和他母親進了以色列地。

But

しかし。

只是。

when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over 

Judea in place of his father Herod,

アルケラオが父ヘロデに代わってユダヤを支配していると聞いたので。

他聽見亞基老接續他父親希律作了猶太王。

he was afraid to go there.

そこへ行くことを恐れた。

就懼怕往那裡去。

And being warned

そして。

又在夢中。

And being warned in a dream,

夢でお告げを受けたので。

被神指示。

he withdrew to the district of Galilee,

ガリラヤ地方へ退き。

便退到加利利境內。

and went and lived in a city called Nazareth.

ナザレという町に行って住んだ。

到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那裡了。

This was to fulfill

それは。

這是要應驗。

what was spoken by the prophets, 

that he would be called a Nazarene.

「彼はナザレ人と呼ばれる」

と預言者たちによって言われていたことが成就するためであった。

先知所說「他將被稱為拿撒勒人」的話。
